The CSA-listed, CARB- and 50-State-compliant HW1000i comes equipped with a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled Honeywell OHV engine that produces 900 rated watts of continuous power--plenty of juice to keep a range of appliances and electrical devices up and running. With this handy device, you can simultaneously power cordless phones, laptops, lights, radios, TVs, and electric fans. You can also individually power other items, including microwaves and desktop computers.
Offering an output of 120 volts, the HW1000i is an inverter generator, so it provides clean power and quiet operation. Also, this four-stroke unit requires only unleaded gasoline and oil. The honeywell generator, HW1000i is a great generator for the price. It does everything that is promises. However, within the first month of ownership, I have had a few things go wrong that were easy fixes assuming the owner has a basic grasp on small engine maintenance. I use my genny to charge my deep cycle batteries on my 35 foot sailboat. I have a 20 amp xantrex battery charger, which I power normally with the generator through a typical shore power cable and outlet, (30 amp shore cable with 15 amp pigtail adapter). The generator spends most of its time semi-covered and in the sunshine in san diego. Within a month of owner ship, I have replaced the inline fuel filter as a result of condensation in the half full fuel tank causing a kinda scary rust on the surface of the inside of the tank. This caused a blockage in the highspeed jet fixed inside the carb. This is a fairly simple task assuming you have lived on a boat and are familiar with cleaning carbs on outboard motors for tenders. This was a task that was fairly easy considering the carb is within easy access once you remove the maintenance panel and the air filter unit. The panel cover comes off with one screw, the same for the air filter cover and then there are 2 maybe 8-10 mil bolts holding the carb to the engine. The bowl for the carb is also easy removal as it has one centrally located bolt through the bottom of the fuel accumulation bowl. (the carb cleaning in a honda ex700, a very similar genny,(my previous) was not quite this easy.) I also removed almost the entire outer casing and removed the fuel tank to clean it out with mineral spirits to clean up some of the rust spots.
Once the tank was cleaned and re-installed, The carb cleaned, and a new inline fuel filter installed, the engine runs perfectly. I have made a few other improvements including an engine hour meter, which helps me keep track of engine usage and maintenance tasks.
In terms of noise, the genny has a signifigant noise increase without the eco-throttle, compared to my previous slighty smaller honda, however it quiets up nicely and is what can be expected for the price.
I would recommend this generator to anyone in the market for other similar products but buyer beware-In calling around to repair shops for parts, the service center in san diego had stopped servicing these units due to lack of availability of parts and reliability. If you are not a do it yourselfer, you could be in a pinch when it comes time to service, or to get it running after a problem.
I , however, am totally happy for the price!

Honeywell HW1000i 1,000 Watt 53cc Portable Gas Powered Inverter Generator
When i first opened the box, I placed high grade 15w-40 oil. Placed 93 octane gas in it. Manual says use nothing less that 87 unleaded gas. And says not to use ethonal or oxigenated mixed gas which is hard to find now. I have started it without any trouble, took 3 pulls the first time, 2 everytime after that. Im using it to charge my drill battery with draws 3.5 amps at 120 volts. Charges without a problem. The max fuse is 7.5 amps, so with two charges on it plus the cord length, im getting close to maxing it out. But it is very quiet. Actually i held a phone conversation while sitting next to it. So far it is a great bang for the buck. I have a ColeMan 1900 Watt generator that cost 300 bucks, but it is far more heavy and a LOT louder. So I think the extra money is worth the ease of carrying and quiet operation.

Recently we needed to do some demolition work in an area where we didn’t have any power. So I bought this generator so that I could run some tools and in the future use it out in the field for other electrical items. It worked great. A couple times it had some difficulties with the saws-all. The saws-all was a little too powerful for the generator and it would cause it to overload. Simply stopping and restarting was all that was necessary. I think tho, if I had to do it over again, I would have bought the 2000. Nice unit but a little more power would be nice.

I purchased this inverter generator and have yet to use it. The intended to use the unit for the 12v DC function. Well it turns out the knuckle heads at
Honeywell don’t have and dont’sell the DC connector. You have to make your self. guess, but who has the time. Further the part number in the manual is incorrect and the staff in customer service is clueless.
The price is great but I would not buy this untill they have the flipin parts. This also probably means they don’t have replacement parts. How can you sell something without the parts. You would think they would put the cord in the box.
Honeywell, I am sorry but you guys need new product managers. 4 thumbs down dudes! Honda no wonder is #1
