What is an Electric Generator
An electric generator is a device that is commonly used as a back up system for electricity in the event of a power failure or as a means to create electricity that would be needed for an area. Many different companies and individuals in residential settings choose to elicit the help of an electric generator in order to keep their area functional in the event of a power shortage from their main electric supplier.
Mechanical energy is transformed into electricity within the electric generator, which is what technically allows it to give off power. When something like a copper wire, which is an electric conductor, passes through a magnetic field, an electric current will be able to move through the conductor. In this instance, the conductor is the electric generator.
There are simple electric generators and there are more elaborate ones on the market today. The specific model that would be the best for a situation would depend on the needs and desires of the individual. Obviously, a large company would need a more powerful generator than a small home.
Power plants also use electric generators in order to create enough electricity to keep the power plant functioning. When an electric generator is implemented into an area, the results vary on the type of generator that is being used. Larger electric generators, such as those used in the power plant, are more powerful than smaller generators that are used to generate electricity for the home of an individual family. In both instances, however, the generators are helpful and appreciated since they meet the needs specific to each situation.
